I Just Don’t Understand

I just don’t understand why people shoot other people. Just because someone did something bad to you doesn’t mean that you have to go out and get “revenge.” Yeah, they did something bad to you doesn’t mean that gives you the right to take away their life. They have family and friends who care about them, and I don’t know how can you live with yourself after you took away a life of another human being.

15 Different Colored Grasshoppers

Once, there was a family of different grasshoppers. Each a different color. Their colors represented a different emotion. If someone were to touch one, then they would immediately feel that emotion. There was red to represent anger. Blue to represent sadness. Yellow to represent happiness. Green to represent disgust. And purple to represent fear. None of these grasshoppers chose their color or emotion. They were born that way. There were never two or more grasshoppers with the same emotion.

My Chinese Zodiac Sign

The year of the dragon is fifth in the Chinese zodiac. I was born in 2000, which means I’m a dragon. Each year has an animal sign according to a twelve-year cycle. Years of the dragon include 1916, 1928, 1940, 1952, 1964, 1976, 1988, 2000, 2012, and 2024. A dragon’s attribute is strength. In some ways, I’m like this attribute, and in other ways, I’m not. The lucky colors are gold, silver, and grayish-white. Two out of six of my favorite colors just happen to be gold and silver. The lucky numbers are 1, 6, and 7, and 6 just happens to be my favorite number. The lucky flowers are bleeding-heart glory flowers and dragon flowers. People of the dragon personalities are described as enthusiastic, confident, intelligent, ambitious, hard working, and straightforward. My personality is like this in many ways, but I also have my days where I’m not as enthusiastic or confident or ambitious. I also have my days where, instead of being hardworking and straightforward, I can be really lazy. When I’m not surrounded by my friends, I can be quiet and keep to myself. The best suited careers for a dragon are journalist, inventor, teacher, manager, computer analyst, lawyer, engineer, and architect. None of these careers are what I want to do in life as far as career-wise. Career-wise, I want to be a photographer, a veterinarian, and a chef. The lucky directions are east, north and south. Most of my family are from the south. The lucky lunar months are 3rd, 4th, and 7th. Years of the dragon are unlucky for dragons. According to Chinese tradition, when the year of your birth sign comes around, it is believed to be bad luck. It is called one’s Ben Ming Nian. The Ben Ming Nian is a whole year of bad luck. Generally, all aspects of your life, including love, health, career, and finance, will not go well. Therefore, dragons should be more careful in years of the dragon. The next dragon year is 2024. It starts on Chinese New Year (February 10, 2024). Those born in January or February should take particular note of when Chinese New Year falls to confirm their birth sign.

The camera lens is what I hide behind

Paint Swatch Poem

Sketching a pencil with a pencil

A giant gray magnet attracts other magnets

Charcoal that is too graphic to be on a wall

I’m in a night club, it’s dark, but it’s being illuminated by neon lights

Water Guns

Things have changed now, the world just ain’t the same now. We’re frightened but we need to be enlightened, use our brain now. People pointing fingers, trying to find someone to blame now. Ashamed how the game of cops and robbers ain’t a game now.

These ain’t water guns. Water guns, no more.

Look around, tell me how we ever got here. We fightin’ hard, but the reasoning is not clear. Stop here, where is the love if it’s not here? The solution to not getting shot here is not fear. Too much blood on these yellow brick streets. And history repeats until we can finally hold our brother’s hand.

These ain’t water guns. Water guns, no more.

So take my hand in your hand. And let’s stand if we can. Pray for all the fallen ones.

These ain’t water guns. Water guns, no more.

Do you hear them? Water guns no more.
